We want to THANK everyone who came to our fabulous STOMP THE STUMPS
benefit dance party at Ashkenaz in March, and give a BIG shout out in
gratitude for the wonderful bands that kept everyone dancing and
smiling all night! The GREAT Gary Gates Band, the FABULOUS Funky
Nixons and WONDERFUL Workingman's Ed -- we thank you!

PACIFIC LUMBER'S BANKRUPTCY proceedings are continuing in bankruptcy
court in Corpus Christi, Texas, the big issues on the table at
present being whether the proceedings will move to California and the
bondholders arguments for taking possession of the company's assets.
Good arguments have been made, as you would expect, for moving the
court proceedings to the state where most of the creditors, the
company's assets, and the company's stakeholders are, and for the
holders of the debt to get Charles Hurwitz out of the drivers' seat.
But also as one would expect, Maxxam has brought out its big gun
attorneys and the decisions are being made, for the time being, on
its home turf. The judge is expected to render a decision about the
venue any day.
We will keep this list informed, but we have a gap coming up in that
the BACH office will be without staff for the remainder of APRIL.
We'll be back in May.

The threatened BERKELEY MEMORIAL OAK GROVE is the site for events
every week, including walks, discussions and yoga. Check out
http://www.saveoaks.com/SaveOaks/Events.html where you can also get
on the Oaks listserve. UC Police just yesterday AGAIN took more of
the support people's gear and possessions. The following are the
items most requested at the grove: lawn chairs, tables for
literature, climbing gear and ropes, bicycles, and food. Monetary
support is always needed.

EARTH DAY tables for outreach are coming up! There are a number of
events scheduled where BACH will be sharing info booths with the Oak
Grove outreach. If you can volunteer for a tabling shift at any
events in LATE APRIL, please call Stephanie at 510-967-4003.
Events include Berkeley Earth Day (April 21, 12-5), Ashkenaz (April
20, evening), Whole Foods (April 29, 12-5) and Earth Week on the UCB
campus April 16-20.
